This week in games: Valve’s finally releasing a game again, Yakuza 6 might come to PC - richardsonandled
Valve
It's been five years since Dota 2, just Valve is finally back with the brave everyone's been waiting for: Half life 3 A collectable card game. Hmm.
That news, plus Yakuza 6 hints at a Microcomputer release, Logitech acquires the Abominable snowman mic manufacturer Blue, Life is Strange 2 gets a new tormentor, Lords of the Fallen 2 starts from rub, and a World of Warcraft bug for the ages.
This is gaming news for July 30 to August 3.
Liberal fun
It's summer, which means the outside world is a hot and horrible hellscape. How merciful of game developers to give you liberate amusement this week then, and lots of it. First up, Endless Space 2 and Endless Legend are both liberated-to-play for the weekend, via Steamer.
Then thither's Absolver, sort-of a brawler with an incredibly complex brio system that makes information technology credibly one of the virtually graphic (and dense, and rewardful) unpeaceful games I've played.
And finally, Murderous Pursuits. It's a multiplayer assassination game from the same team as The Ship, but although information technology released in the beginning this year IT doesn't seem suchlike Murderous Pursuits has quite taken off. Thus it's stuck in the synoptic hell as all those multiplayer-only games, already troubled to find and retain an audience. Hopefully this dislodge weekend will assistance.
Sinking feeling into madness
I think I've got this straight: In one case upon a clip Frogwares, developer of the hangdog pleasure Sherlock Holmes games, was working connected a Call of Cthulhu game for Focus. Then they weren't, and some other developer took that project o'er—but Frogwares is still making a Lovecraft-styled stake, The Sinking City.
That covers it, I recall. Anyway, there's a new trailer. It's jolly grim, simply in that lovably janky Frogwares way I've number to know so well.
Valve makes games
Okeh, they might not be games anyone wants, but Valve is officially making games again. Or a game, at least. Artifact, the Dota-based wit game Valve magnificently unveiled to a groaning audience at past year's International, in real time has an official release date, November 28. Information technology'll cost $20 up front, and our priorArtifact coverage breaks pour down what your investment gets you. Oh, and surprise, surprise: Players will be able to buy out and sell card game on the Steam Marketplace.
Sounds great for Valve at least.
Matter of fact, it's all dark
Darksiders III ($60 preorder along Lowly) is down in November, and IGN continues to have all the details about it. Seriously, I still harbour't played it—though I reckon I might finally get a chance at Gamescom this calendar month, fingers decussate. In any case, IGN's got a new video viewing off some of the environmental puzzles and so-on, which is the part of the game I'm most interested in.
Blue Christmas
Logitech distended its hold on the streaming securities industry this week. Afterwards getting Astro about a year ago, this calendar week Logitech announced IT's getting microphone maker Blue, God Almighty of the beloved Yeti and Snowball mics—a basic of umpteen streaming setups and podcasters. Minimal brain dysfunction in the C922 webcam and Logitech's apace becoming a one-stop shop for all your Twitch and YouTube needs.
In any event, get into't bear much of a change on the unrestricted-facing end. Blue will keep its branding, same Eastern Samoa Astro, and presumably (OR hopefully) keep making the screaky-end mics the company was illustrious for earlier streaming became a staple. Bold play by Logitech though.
Life is Stranger
First I thought Life is Strange 2 was being announced at E3. Treasonably alarm—it was the free-to-make for Captain Spirit. But then Dontnod declared Life is Strange 2 ($40 preorder on Humiliate) alike, fortnight afterwards and whol was well with the world. Information technology's emotional this September, and there's a new teaser this week involving an Officer K. Matthews. Look for a longer trailer on Grand 20.
TTK
And other, eventide shorter teaser this workweek, this incomparable for Destiny 2. Bungie's planning any assort of "Combat Reveal Stream" for August 7 at 10 a.m. Pacific Ocean. Not sure what it'll focus on, As most of the stuff in the tease is already known—Sir Thomas More pliant weapon loadouts and a shorter time-to-kill. Maybe of interest though, to those of you urgently holding out hope for Destiny 2 PvP.
Dead lords
Lords of the Fallen 2 has been in production for eld now, which made Eurogamer's report this workweek pretty shocking to read: In that respect's a unprecedented studio apartment in charge, helmed by some ex-Avalanche employees, and development's opening over from kale. That's uh…well, good luck.
Yay-kuza
Sega really power be all-in on the Microcomputer for Yakuza games immediately. Subsequently releasing Yakuza 0 on PC this week ($20 on Humble) and with plans to release Kiwami before the end of the year, forthwith Siliconera has spotted references to Yakuza 6's comer on Personal computer quondam in 2019. Beautiful elating! Oh and please, take this Yakuza 0 launch lagger patc we'Ra at information technology.
Oops.
Army of the Pure's cultivation awake with one of the worst bugs in Holocene memory. Earlier this week, World of Warcraft players noticed something odd: After itinerant from same zone to another, their quest log would look completely empty. Any progress on existing quests? Asleep. Keep in mind some of them take years of dedicated playact to polish off.
So uh…yeah. Quite an a problem, and patc Rash's frozen the issue and prevented it from happening to anyone other, those who confounded progress are apparently out of luck and essential go gain vigor the quests over again and start over. Ouch.
Bad vast "Oops" for a game that's had concluded a decade of fine-tuning. (Via PC Gamer)
